The most basic, yet powerful tool of organizing, is the list. From ingredients for a meal recipe, to tasks for a life-changing project, a list is an essential element. For the plan of living a simple life, we will need several lists.
As a digital nomad, my book of lists is a folder on the cloud. Each list is an individual document. This gives me the ability to access and update my lists without having to carry an additional item around with me (I always have my phone or a laptop anyway).
But you can also use a physical book. It could be a cool hardcover journal or just a basic school spiral notebook. Just make sure you have easy access to it, so you can update your lists, in the moment, as you observe more about yourself. So, if you go the physical route, make sure to take it with you wherever you go, at least initially.
The important thing to keep in mind is your lists will change and evolve over time. You will add items. You will delete items. You will add new lists and may delete lists that are no longer relevant to you. The Book of Lists is your blueprint and guide. It’s your tool for introspection and planning as you move toward living your simple life.
